San Lorenzo

San Lorenzo is a city in the Central Department located about 9 kilometers from Asunción and sits at approximately 126 meters elevation. The urban area spreads across a wide territory with the National University as its core, surrounded by shops, supermarkets, and commercial establishments lining its main roads.

The area was founded in 1775 by Captain Agustín Fernando de Pinedo after he took over former Jesuit lands in the Ñu Guazú region. This establishment laid the groundwork for what would eventually develop into a significant urban center.

The National University of Asunción defines the city through its constant flow of students arriving for classes each day. The campus and surrounding streets form a place where education shapes everyday life.

The city is well-connected by buses that run regularly to and from Asunción, making movement between different districts straightforward. Most shops and services are located along main roads and are easily reachable on foot or by short rides.

The city houses one of the country's largest supply markets, serving as a central distribution hub for goods across the region. This trading center draws buyers and sellers from various areas who regularly move large quantities of goods through here.
