The Casa de Gomes Jardim stands as a colonial structure featuring elements of Portuguese architecture with modifications that incorporate classical eclectic style elements.
The estate played a central role during the Farroupilha Revolution in 1835, when leaders gathered to plan the capture of Porto Alegre.
The site includes the Farroupilha Cypress tree, which appears as a symbol in the official flag, coat of arms, and anthem of Guaíba.
The building has served multiple functions throughout its existence, transitioning from a residence to a school and later a grocery store.
The property belonged to José Gomes de Vasconcelos Jardim, a cousin of Bento Gonçalves, who acquired it through marriage to Isabel Leonor Ferreira.
