Edifício Altino Arantes, Art Deco skyscraper in Central Zone, São Paulo, Brazil

The Edifício Altino Arantes is a 36-story skyscraper rising 161 meters with an observation deck offering views across the city. The structure stands out in the downtown area due to its height and Art Deco design.

The building was completed in 1947 and was the tallest structure outside the United States at that time. It remained the highest building in São Paulo for approximately two decades before other structures surpassed it.

The building displays the monumental state flag of São Paulo, which must be replaced monthly due to wind exposure and remains a symbol of local pride. This ongoing tradition connects the structure to the city's identity.

The observation deck is accessible and offers broad views across the city, with comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing recommended. Visitors should plan to arrive in the morning or early afternoon for the clearest sightlines.

The entrance hall spans 379 square meters and features a grand crystal chandelier above granite floors with patterns representing Brazilian landscapes. This attention to detail in the lobby reveals the craftsmanship and care invested in the building's interior.
