Glória Imortal dos Fundadores de São Paulo

Glória Imortal dos Fundadores de São Paulo is a monument of granite and bronze at Pátio do Colégio that rises about 25 meters tall. At its peak stands a female figure holding a torch, a laurel branch, and a sickle.

The monument was inaugurated in 1925 and honors the city's founders through bronze bas-reliefs depicting the first mass of 1554 and other early settlement events. These reliefs document the key moments that brought São Paulo into being.

The monument displays four medallions on its base showing portraits of people who shaped the city's founding. These images make visible the contributions of those early figures to visitors who pass through.

The monument stands at the exact location where São Paulo began, making it a key point for understanding the city's origins. From here, visitors can grasp the place's history through its physical presence.

Italian sculptor Amedeo Zani created the monument pieces in Rome between 1911 and 1913 before they were shipped to the city. The bronze casting work was carried out by the Orestes Bongirolami company.
