Bosque dos Jequitibás, Municipal park and zoo in central Campinas, Brazil
Bosque dos Jequitibás is a forest area in central Campinas with Atlantic Forest plants, animal enclosures, an aquarium, and a natural history museum. The site features walking trails, rest areas, and food vendors throughout its grounds.
The park was created in the 1880s and designed as an English garden by architect Ramos de Azevedo. Its founder, Francisco Bueno de Miranda, shaped its initial purpose and layout.
The theater inside hosts regular performances focused on children's entertainment and education. It serves as a cultural hub where families gather for artistic activities and learning experiences.
The site is open daily and easy to explore on foot, with multiple trail options and shaded areas. Wear comfortable shoes as terrain can be uneven in some sections, and bring water for warm days.
It became the first property in Campinas to receive protected status from CONDEPHAAT in 1970, setting preservation standards for the entire region. This recognition highlights its importance for both nature and local heritage.
