Palácio da Mogiana

Palácio da Mogiana is an eclectic palace in central Campinas that spans across three streets and occupies half a city block. The facade combines various architectural elements and shows the diversity of building styles that shaped this structure.

The building was constructed between 1891 and 1910 as headquarters for the Mogiana Railroad Company and served this purpose until 1926, when operations relocated to São Paulo. After this shift, the palace took on new roles and was later restored extensively.

The building displays architectural influences that reflect the city's development, showing how different design styles from various periods came together in one structure.

The building is centrally located and accessible from several sides since it stands at the intersection of multiple streets. Visitors should allow time to explore the different facades to fully appreciate the varied architectural details.

A wing of the palace was demolished in 1953 to widen Avenida Campos Sales, destroying its original symmetrical design. This change shows how the city adapted the historic building to its growth needs.
