Centro de Convivência, Cultural center in Cambuí, Brazil.
Centro de Convivência is a cultural complex in Campinas featuring a large arena theater, multiple performance halls, and art galleries. The different spaces allow various events to happen simultaneously, creating a versatile hub for performances and exhibitions.
Planning began in 1967, was paused, and resumed in 1974 until architect Fábio Penteado completed the complex in 1976. The project merged elements from different architectural concepts into a unified facility.
The venue hosts theater, dance, and art exhibitions that shape local cultural life. The traditional weekend Hippie Fair brings together local artisans and creators who display their handmade works.
The arena theater accommodates around 5,000 visitors while the indoor hall seats about 500 and works better for smaller, more intimate events. Visitors should check which space is hosting their chosen event to know where to go upon arrival.
The complex grew from two originally separate architectural projects that architect Penteado skillfully merged into one working whole. This blending allowed for greater variety in spaces and functions than a single design plan could have offered.
