Carioca Arena 1, Indoor sports stadium in Barra da Tijuca, Brazil

Carioca Arena 1 is a permanent indoor arena in Barra Olympic Park, Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. It covers 38,000 square metres, and its 33-metre facade echoes the city's mountain landscape. Inside are 282 rooms, eight dressing rooms, 49 bathrooms and six lifts; capacity was 16,000 for the 2016 Olympics and was lowered to 6,000 afterwards.

The facility was constructed between 2013 and 2016 specifically in preparation for the Summer Olympics. It formed part of a broader infrastructure development project to upgrade sporting facilities across Rio de Janeiro.

The arena's name comes from the Carioca demonym for Rio residents. After the 2016 Games it became part of the Olympic Training Centre, where athletes in 12 different sports train. Its opening events in January 2016 were the Aquece Rio international women's basketball tournament and the Aquece Rio international wheelchair rugby championship.
