Carioca Arena 2, Olympic multipurpose stadium in Barra da Tijuca, Brazil

Carioca Arena 2 is an indoor sports hall located within the Barra Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is part of a cluster of arenas built on the same grounds and was designed to host mat-based and combat sports competitions.

Carioca Arena 2 was built for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Barra Olympic Park, where it hosted judo and wrestling, then boccia at the 2016 Paralympics. After the Games it became part of the Olympic Training Centre, and it was later converted into a branch of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology serving 1,400 students. In 2017 it hosted the South American Wrestling Championship.

After the Olympics, the arena was turned into an educational center where technical and vocational courses are now taught. Visitors who walk through the area can see students and teachers moving through what was once a competition hall.

The venue sits in Barra da Tijuca, on the west side of Rio de Janeiro, and can be reached by bus or metro. Since the building now operates mainly as an educational institution, it is worth checking access conditions before visiting.
