Carioca Arena 2

Carioca Arena 2 is a sports venue within the Barra Olympic Park that was built with contemporary design and seats around 10,000 spectators. The building features large indoor spaces and was repurposed for educational use after 2016.

The venue was built for the 2016 Summer Olympics and hosted judo, wrestling, and boccia events. After the Games, it was converted to serve educational purposes.

After the Games, the building became an educational center where technical courses are now taught. The space serves the community today as a learning hub rather than only for sports.

The location sits in Barra da Tijuca and is easily reached by bus lines and the metro. Keep in mind that the building now functions primarily as an educational institution and is not always open for tours.

The building was one of the few Olympic sites that successfully found an entirely new purpose after 2016. The conversion shows how Olympic infrastructure can be put to long-term use for the benefit of local residents.
