Mirador Killi Killi

Mirador Killi Killi is an observation platform on Santa Barbara hill that offers views of the entire La Paz cityscape with the snow-capped Illimani mountain in the distance. The site provides a sweeping perspective across the urban valley and surrounding peaks.

This location played a strategic role in 1781 when indigenous leader Tupac Katari set up his command post here during the siege of La Paz. That period shaped its importance in the city's history.

The name comes from a falcon species found in this area, showing how local wildlife shaped place names here. This connection to nature remains visible in how people use and talk about the space.

The best way to get there is by taxi or bus to Villa Pabon, then a short walk up stone steps. The climb is manageable for most people but requires some physical effort.

A stone arch from the 1920s, originally part of a house near Plaza Isabel la Catolica, now stands as the centerpiece of the observation area. This relocated arch connects the city's past to the current site.
