Fazenda Santa Clara 2, Agricultural and aquaculture complex in Mata de São João, Brazil
Fazenda Santa Clara 2 is a complex with an 18.5 meter high dam and multiple fish farming facilities on the property. The site has five water reservoirs that supply both agricultural operations and fish production.
The facility was built during regional agricultural expansion in the colonial period by the Bustamante Fortes family. This development marked the growth of commercial farming properties along the Rio Preto.
The farm combines traditional Brazilian farming methods with modern fish production and supports local food supply. The operation shows how the community uses water resources for both agriculture and aquaculture.
The farm operates with five water reservoirs that support operations year-round, producing approximately 80 tons of fish annually. The site has cooling storage to preserve the catch, which keeps the operation running efficiently.
The site has a refrigeration unit storing up to ten tons of fish, along with an on-site ice factory. This additional infrastructure allows the operation to handle production throughout the year.
