Chapada das Mesas National Park

The 159,952-hectare conservation area contains sandstone cliffs, plateaus, canyons, caves, and numerous waterfalls within the Cerrado biome landscape.

Established in 2005, the park emerged from federal initiatives to protect remaining Cerrado areas from deforestation caused by charcoal production and agricultural expansion.

The park preserves over 400 water springs and houses ancient rock inscriptions at Morro das Figuras, documenting regional prehistoric human presence.

Visitors must arrange local guides and four-wheel drive vehicles to reach São Romão and Prata waterfalls due to challenging terrain conditions.

The park's name derives from its table-shaped plateaus formed by sandstone walls shaped through millions of years of geological processes.
