World's Largest Cashew Tree, Giant tree in Parnamirim, Brazil

The World's Largest Cashew Tree is a massive organism in Parnamirim, Brazil, covering more than 8,500 square meters while rising only 8 meters (26 feet) above the ground. Its branches spread horizontally across the soil and take root in multiple places, making it look like a continuous forest of limbs and leaves.

A fisherman named Luis Inacio de Oliveira planted it in December 1888 and lived to be 93, dying under its shade. The genetic mutation that allowed horizontal growth turned it into a sprawling network over more than a century.

The name comes from the sheer size of the tree, which spreads like an entire orchard and is seen by locals as a natural landmark. Visitors can walk beneath its canopy and experience the feeling of moving through a living forest that grew from a single trunk.

The site is open daily from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and a viewing tower offers an overview of the entire spread. Paid parking is located near the entrance, and the paths beneath the branches are generally flat and easy to walk.

Every December 20th, the community celebrates its birthday with music performances and a ceremony for its supporters. The roots form new colonies when branches touch the ground, so all parts are genetically identical and remain a single living organism.
