Kavango Region, Former administrative region in northern Namibia
The Kavango Region extended over 48,742 square kilometers along the Namibian border with Angola, containing forests and agricultural lands near the Kavango River.
The region operated as a unified administrative zone until 2013 when President Hifikepunye Pohamba divided it into Kavango East and Kavango West regions.
Settlements concentrated along the Kavango River supported populations through traditional farming methods, fishing activities, and furniture production from local wood resources.
The primary transportation route connected Rundu to Grootfontein, while smaller roads provided access to villages and agricultural areas throughout the region.
The region received higher rainfall amounts than other Namibian territories, creating conditions for agriculture and forestry in an otherwise arid country.
