Lusaka Province, Administrative province in central Zambia.
Lusaka Province is an administrative region in central Zambia consisting of four districts: Chongwe, Kafue, Luangwa, and the capital district of Lusaka. The area is shaped by major river systems including the Zambezi, Lunsemfwa, and Kafue, which define natural features and boundaries.
The province was established in 1976, combining territories from former colonial administrative divisions. This reorganization occurred during Zambia's early years of independence and shaped the present administrative structure.
English serves as the administrative language while Nyanja and Bemba languages facilitate daily communication among the population of 2.5 million residents.
Visitors planning to explore the region should check road conditions and seasonal changes before traveling. The dry season offers the easiest access to remote areas and better infrastructure throughout the province.
The Lower Zambezi National Park extends partly through the province and represents one of the country's significant wilderness areas. This park receives less attention than other protected areas in Zambia while hosting diverse wildlife and striking river landscapes.
