Maniema

Maniema extends across 132,520 square kilometers of diverse terrain, including rivers, mountains, and forests that sustain numerous mining operations and agricultural activities.

The province underwent significant changes during the colonial period when Belgian authorities established rubber production facilities and initiated mineral extraction operations across the region.

The population of over 2.8 million people includes the Mwenga and Wamanyanga ethnic groups, who maintain specific traditions through local festivals and ceremonies.

The University of Kindu provides higher education opportunities while the province contains seven administrative territories: Punia, Pangi, Lubutu, Kibombo, Kasongo, Kailo, and Kabambare.

The Kailo Territory features active open-pit mines that produce wolframite and cassiterite, contributing to the province's status as a mineral production center.
