Kigali City Tower

Kigali City Tower is a commercial building with an elliptical design that rises 20 floors above Avenue du Commerce and houses offices, retail spaces, and various facilities. The structure offers modern spaces for businesses and public areas including cafés and a specialized cinema.

Construction began in 2006 following the vision of a local developer and was completed in 2011, replacing a former bus station on the site. Japanese investment backed this major building project, making it a significant commercial development for the region at that time.

The tower represents Rwanda's shift toward a modern business hub and shows the country's commitment to developing commerce and services. Visitors see here an architecture that combines contemporary ambitions with practical spaces for companies.

The building is easy to find as it stands at a prominent location near the city center and rises distinctly into the skyline. Visitors should come during daytime hours to use shops and cafés, as well as during scheduled times for special facilities like the cinema.

The elliptical design was chosen by a local businessman who originally considered a circular shape but opted for the sleeker elliptical solution instead. This unexpected architectural choice is little known, yet it shapes the entire facade and spatial feel of the tower.
