Siger Tower, Cultural tower in South Lampung, Indonesia.
Siger Tower is a 32-meter structure located on Bukit Gamping hill with yellow and red colors representing traditional Lampung architectural elements. An observation deck provides views of the Sunda Strait, Bakauheni Port, and the surrounding landscape.
Construction of this tower began in 2005 and was completed in 2008, representing efforts to establish a modern landmark for the Lampung region. The project reflected the area's desire to create a defining structure for its identity.
The tower displays nine tiers representing the nine languages of the Lampung region and incorporates traditional Tapis textile patterns throughout its decoration. These elements reflect the local community's linguistic and artistic heritage.
Climbing to the observation deck offers views over the strait and bay below, with clear days providing the best visibility. Visiting earlier in the day helps avoid crowds and takes advantage of better lighting conditions.
The tower's location serves as a zero point reference for southern Sumatra, functioning as a navigational marker for vessels traveling from Java toward Bakauheni Port. This geographic reference point gives the structure practical meaning for ships navigating the busy strait.
