Gunung Rajabasa

Gunung Rajabasa is a stratovolcano rising to approximately 1,280 meters with a wide crater filled with wetland vegetation. The cone displays the typical steep-sided structure of this volcanic type, with a defined crater floor that has developed its own ecosystem.

The volcano showed two recorded periods of fumarolic activity in the 1800s, with no eruptions documented afterward. These episodes represent the only known volcanic activity signs in its recorded history.

The mountain serves as a water source that local communities depend on for farming and daily needs. People in the surrounding area have built their way of life around the natural resources this volcanic landscape provides.

The mountain is reachable from Kalianda city to the north, which serves as the main access point for visitors. The terrain becomes more demanding higher up, so comfortable hiking shoes and adequate water supply are recommended.

The mountain feeds the Sekampung River Basin through its eastern slopes, creating a water system that sustains farmlands across the region. This makes Rajabasa a quiet but essential part of the local water infrastructure.
