Al-Azhom Grand Mosque, Islamic worship center in Tangerang, Indonesia
The Al-Azhom Grand Mosque extends over 2.25 hectares with a total building area of 5,775 square meters across two levels in Tangerang.
The construction began on July 7, 1997, under Mayor Djakaria Machmud, and Minister of Religion Said Agil Husin Al Munawar inaugurated the mosque on February 28, 2003.
The mosque design incorporates five domes representing Islamic pillars and four 55-meter towers symbolizing faith, morals, law, and worship principles.
The mosque contains separate ablution areas for men and women, a library, study rooms, and prayer spaces that accommodate 15,000 worshippers simultaneously.
The central dome, measuring 63 meters in diameter, maintains its structure without supporting pillars through the architectural support of four semi-circular smaller domes.
