Al-Azhom Grand Mosque

Al-Azhom Grand Mosque is an Islamic worship center in Tangerang with two levels housing large prayer halls and supporting facilities. The space includes dedicated areas for ablution, learning, and worship spread across the grounds.

This mosque was developed in the 1990s as a major religious project for Tangerang's growing Islamic community. It took several years from initial planning to completion, becoming an important gathering place for worship.

The mosque design incorporates five domes representing Islamic pillars and four 55-meter towers symbolizing faith, morals, law, and worship principles.

Visitors will find separate facilities for ritual ablution and spacious prayer areas designed to accommodate many worshippers comfortably. The site also offers libraries and study rooms available to those who visit.

The most striking architectural feature is the large central dome, which stands without internal supports thanks to a system of smaller domes beneath it. This engineering approach demonstrates an interesting solution for creating open interior spaces.
