Taman Film, Urban park in Lebak Siliwangi, Indonesia
Taman Film is an urban park nestled beneath the Pasupati overpass in Bandung, with curved steps that create separate zones for relaxation and film screenings. The layout uses the space under the bridge efficiently, offering multiple levels that adapt to different uses.
The park was established in 2013 by Mayor Ridwan Kamil as part of a plan to connect public spaces along a linear corridor and revive a neglected area. This initiative transformed an unused underpass area into an active community gathering spot.
The space operates as an outdoor cinema where residents gather regularly to watch films and participate in community screenings. It serves as a meeting point that supports local film culture and brings people together.
The overpass provides natural shelter from rain, making the space accessible year-round regardless of weather. Visitors should note that the area can get crowded during rainfall and especially during film screenings.
In 2018, the entire park was covered with artificial grass, giving it the appearance of a rice field during harvest season. This unusual design creates a surprising visual experience beneath the concrete overpass.
