Sri Gethuk

Sri Gethuk is a waterfall in Gunung Kidul that drops across layered limestone formations, creating cascades that flow into the Oya River. The water divides into several streams as it moves over and between large rock surfaces.

Archaeological excavations in a nearby cave revealed that humans lived in this region thousands of years ago. These early findings suggest the area has long served as a place of settlement.

Local folklore refers to this site as Slempret Waterfall and connects it to stories passed down through generations about the area's past. The name and tales remain alive in how people speak about and relate to the place today.

The waterfall is open to visitors daily and provides basic facilities including parking and restrooms. The path to reach it involves steps and rocky terrain, so wearing sturdy shoes with good grip is important.

The site is known for allowing visitors to swim in the natural pools formed between the rocks. Additionally, the river below offers opportunities for traditional rafting experiences along its course.
