Dewantara Kirti Griya Museum, Educational museum and library in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
The Dewantara Kirti Griya Museum sits in a residential building that blends European and Javanese features within the Majelis Luhur Tamansiswa complex. Nine rooms remain furnished as they were and display furniture, manuscripts, photographs, and personal items from the founder's lifetime.
The building was purchased from a Dutch plantation owner in 1934 and later converted into a museum. This transformation happened after the founder Ki Hadjar Dewantara died in 1959.
The museum honors Ki Hadjar Dewantara, a pioneer of modern Indonesian education whose ideas shaped schools across the country. The rooms show how his thinking flowed into daily life and what values drove his work.
Plan time to explore the nine rooms since each reveals a different aspect of the founder's life and work. Guided tours help visitors understand the story behind each space.
The museum works as original documentation of an educational vision since rooms were not designed as typical exhibition spaces. Instead they preserve the exact layout of Ki Hadjar Dewantara's daily life, including his work desk and bedroom.
