Port of Tanjung Api-Api, Maritime port in Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, Indonesia
The Port of Tanjung Api-Api is a maritime facility in Banyuasin Regency featuring docks, container terminals, office buildings, and security infrastructure spread across its grounds. The layout supports the handling of cargo and the movement of various vessels in an organized manner.
Construction began in 2004 and finished in 2007 as a replacement for the earlier 35 Ilir port in Palembang. The project was a South Sumatra government initiative to improve regional shipping capacity.
The port functions as a meeting point where people from South Sumatra and the Bangka Belitung islands exchange regional traditions and goods through maritime routes. This connection shapes the daily rhythm of the place and makes it a crossroads of different communities.
The facility sits about 68 kilometers south of Palembang and is accessible by road. Ferry travel to the Bangka Belitung islands takes roughly four hours, making it a key connection point for travelers and cargo.
The port sits alongside an industrial zone where rubber is processed, palm oil is packaged, and noodles are manufactured. This combination makes the location a combined transport and production hub for the region.
