Sriwijaya University is a public higher education institution in Palembang and Tanjung Raja, Indonesia. The main campus spreads over 712 hectares (1,759 acres) in Indralaya and houses all central academic facilities and ten faculties.
The institution developed from Syakhyakirti College and received state university status on November 3, 1960. The founding followed successful negotiations between local education representatives and the Indonesian government.
The university maintains ten distinct faculties, including economics, law, engineering, medicine, agriculture, contributing to South Sumatra's educational development.
