Elsey National Park

The 138.96 square kilometer park extends from 2 kilometers to 19 kilometers east of Mataranka, featuring thermal springs and diverse woodland landscapes.

The establishment of Elsey National Park occurred in 1991, with subsequent expansions and developments implemented in 2002 and 2010.

The territory holds deep connections to Indigenous Australian communities who maintained traditional relationships with the land before European settlement.

Visitors can access camping facilities throughout the park while exploring multiple walking trails, thermal pools, and Mataranka Falls.

The thermal springs support a substantial colony of little red fruit bats, Pteropus scapulatus, which roost in bamboo stands during daylight hours.
