The Repatriation Commission Outpatient Clinic features brown brick construction and Art Deco architecture next to the Victoria Barracks bluestone buildings.
The facility opened in November 1937 to provide medical care for veterans returning from World War I, serving up to 250 patients each day.
Red Cross volunteers, numbering up to 25 people, supported veterans at the clinic by assisting them during their medical appointment waiting times.
The clinic included specialized examination rooms, modern air conditioning systems, and large waiting areas designed specifically for outpatient veteran treatment.
The building represents one of the few remaining direct connections to surviving World War I veterans, unlike memorials dedicated to fallen soldiers.
