The beach name comes from the vegetation that covered the Cronulla sand dunes before European settlers cleared most of it during colonization.
The beach serves as a gathering place for local residents who participate in water activities and organize family outings throughout the year.
Dogs are permitted off-leash between 4 PM and 10 AM, making this beach different from other Sydney coastal areas with stricter regulations.
Unlike other beaches in the Greenhills-North Cronulla complex, this section operates without patrol services or volunteer lifesavers monitoring the shore.
