Dunmore House, Georgian homestead in Bolwarra Heights, Australia
Dunmore House is a Georgian homestead with stone outbuildings arranged around a courtyard at 557 Paterson Road in New South Wales. The buildings feature a flagged verandah, sash windows, and cedar joinery alongside an original cantilevered stone staircase from the Colonial period.
The estate was built between 1830 and 1833 by William and Andrew Lang and named after Mary Dunmore. Its early operations relied on assigned convict labor for agricultural work on the property.
The property served as a meeting place for Scottish settlers during the 1830s migration wave, shaping early farming practices in the region. This connection to Scottish settlement remains part of the area's local identity.
The property is easily accessible by car along Paterson Road, making orientation straightforward. Visitors can explore both the main residence and surrounding stone outbuildings to gain a complete view of the Colonial-era farm layout.
The property gained recognition on the New South Wales State Heritage Register in 2012 following restoration work by the Osborne family starting in 2000. This conservation effort preserved original features that might otherwise have been lost.
