Broadmeadow Magic FC, football club
Broadmeadow Magic FC is a soccer club based in Newcastle, New South Wales, that plays at Magic Park, a ground holding about 3,500 fans. The club was established in 1966 and regularly competes in local and national tournaments.
The club was founded in 1966 and achieved its first victory in 1967 against Cardiff Workers RSL with a 2-1 win. After years of climbing through the divisions, the team secured its first league title in 1997 and continued with further successes in the 2000s.
Broadmeadow Magic FC was founded by Macedonian-Australian communities and reflects the cultural diversity of the region. The club serves as a gathering place where families and neighbors come together on match days to share their passion for football.
Magic Park is located in a quiet residential area with nearby shops and cafes that are easily accessible by car. On match days, parking fills up quickly, so arriving early is advisable and allows time to visit nearby cafes afterward.
The club hosted its first-ever FFA Cup match at home in 2014 against Brisbane Strikers, losing after extra time. Several players from the squad, including Ben Kantarovski and Ben Kennedy, have gone on to play for higher-level teams like the Newcastle Jets.
