St Patrick's Church features Gothic Revival architecture with local porphyry walls dressed in Murphy's Creek sandstone and French stained glass windows throughout the structure.
The construction of this religious building began in 1880 under Bishop James O'Quinn's patronage and was completed in 1882 by builder John Arthur Manis O'Keefe.
The building replaced an earlier structure on Wickham Street to accommodate the growing Catholic population, with a capacity to seat 1500 people.
Located at 58 Morgan Street in Fortitude Valley, the church holds regular services and remains an active place of worship for the Catholic community.
The architect Andrea Giovanni Stombuco, who previously served as Goulburn Diocesan Architect, was specifically invited to Brisbane to design this church.
