Fortitude Valley Methodist Church

The brick church at 116-120 Brookes Street features Gothic Revival architecture with buttressed walls, lancet windows, and ornamental details throughout the structure.

The church complex includes buildings from different construction periods: the second church from 1871 and the third church completed in 1888.

The buildings represent the development of Methodist religious practices in Brisbane during the nineteenth century through their architectural and spatial arrangements.

After closure as a place of worship in 1977, the church building became the Epworth Centre and later housed offices for the Royal Geographical Society.

The church contains stained glass windows imported from Munich and features an organ manufactured locally in Brisbane during the nineteenth century.
