The Balmoral Shire Council established the park in 1904 on Robert Jamieson's land, officially opening it in 1919 to honor First World War service members.
Memorial trees planted between 1919 and 1923 along three street frontages display commemorative plaques recognizing local soldiers, sailors, and nurses.
The park includes a two-story grandstand, public restrooms, canteen facilities, and multiple community buildings for sports clubs and senior citizens.
A wrought iron entrance gateway and memorial pillar shaped like a concrete lectern display brass plaques commemorating Bulimba's military personnel.
