St John the Baptist Anglican Church, Bulimba

The timber church on Oxford Street features a corrugated iron roof, lancet windows with colored glass, and a prominent entrance porch with low brick piers.

Built in 1888 by architect John Hingeston Buckeridge, the church emerged during Queensland's expansion period when Bishop Thomas Webber initiated new religious constructions across the region.

The church maintains its position as a central gathering point for Anglican worship services, community events, and social activities in the Bulimba neighborhood.

The adjacent parish hall, constructed in 1965 and later expanded, provides additional space for community meetings, celebrations, and various neighborhood functions.

The interior contains wood paneling from the captain's cabin of the Maheno ship, which wrecked near Fraser Island in 1935, along with the vessel's bell.
