Mount Beerwah, Mountain peak in Queensland, Australia

Mount Beerwah is a peak in the Glass House Mountains range of southeast Queensland rising to 556 meters. It stands as the highest volcanic formation within this mountain group.

The mountain formed during the Oligocene Epoch approximately 26 million years ago through volcanic activity. Erosion has worn away about two-thirds of its original height over time.

The name comes from Dungidau language words meaning mother in creation stories of local Aboriginal people. This meaning remains central to how the land is understood and valued by Indigenous communities today.

The route to the summit starts from a parking area and involves steep sections and rocky passages. Bring plenty of water and plan to hike during daylight hours due to the challenging terrain.

The mountain features a distinctive geological formation called the Organ Pipes with vertical stone columns. This creates an overhanging rock face with small caves at its base that visitors can observe along the trail.
