Kurilpa Bridge, Pedestrian bridge in Brisbane, Australia

The 470-meter steel structure spans across the Brisbane River, connecting Kurilpa Point in South Brisbane to Tank Street in the central business district.

The Kurilpa Bridge opened in October 2009 after a construction period of two years, with Queensland Premier Anna Bligh leading the inauguration ceremony.

The name Kurilpa originates from Aboriginal language, referring to the South Brisbane and West End area as the place of water rats.

The bridge features two viewing platforms, multiple rest areas, and a continuous weather-protection canopy extending along its entire length for pedestrian comfort.

The structure incorporates 560 tonnes of steel and 6.8 kilometers of cable, making it the largest tensegrity bridge system in the world.
