Beenleigh Rum Distillery

The Beenleigh Rum Distillery sits along the Albert River, featuring copper pot stills, barrel storage facilities, and a production area for premium spirits.

Established in 1884, the distillery began operations after acquiring a copper still from an abandoned steamboat called SS Walrus that washed ashore at Beenleigh.

The distillery maintains its position as Australia's first registered facility, carrying license number one and continuing traditional rum production methods from the 19th century.

Visitors can participate in guided tours of the facility, taste different rum varieties, and learn about the distillation process in the on-site educational center.

The facility produces spirits using pure rainwater from a local dam and molasses from neighboring sugar mills, following methods unchanged since its establishment.
