Boulia Stone House, Historic stone house in Boulia, Australia.
Boulia Stone House is a 19th-century stone building made from local sandstone and limestone in rubble masonry style. The structure includes a timber kitchen and a covered verandah below a corrugated iron roof.
The house was built in the 1880s and first served as lodging for the Police Magistrate and as a courthouse during western Queensland's settlement. It was later converted into a museum to document the region's development.
The museum inside displays objects from early settlement times in western Queensland and shows how people lived in the region. The collection helps you understand the daily lives of those who built the area.
The site is located on Pituri Street in the town of Boulia. Parking is available on site, along with public toilet facilities and open areas for observing local birds and wildlife.
It is the only stone building in the entire town of Boulia and contains four large stone rooms. The combination of stone construction with timber additions makes it architecturally noteworthy for the region.
