St Aubins, Rockhampton, Heritage-listed building in West Rockhampton, Australia.

St Aubins is a two-story residence in West Rockhampton with wide verandahs, solid brick walls, and large windows designed for the local climate. The building sits on spacious grounds and shows how homes were built to handle heat and storms.

Johann Rodekirchen, a German immigrant and brickmaker, built the house in 1889 near his clay operation at Lion Creek. The residence emerged during a period when German craftsmen were developing Rockhampton's building trades.

The layout shows how wealthy households separated servants' spaces from formal living areas, reflecting social divisions of the period. Walking through reveals how everyday life was organized around class distinctions.

The property is open weekdays with limited hours, so plan your visit accordingly. It is best to arrange a visit in advance, as access may be restricted outside reserved times.

The house still has its original underground water tank and servants' quarters intact. These preserved features offer a rare look at how a large household actually functioned in the 1880s.
