Moir Gardens, Botanical garden in Poipu, Kauai, United States.
Moir Gardens is a botanical garden on roughly 35 acres within the Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation, displaying extensive collections of cacti, succulents, and orchids. These plants are arranged along paved pathways that visitors can explore at their own pace.
Alexandra Moir established this garden in the 1930s while her husband managed Koloa Plantation, Hawaii's first sugar plantation. The collection grew to become one of the world's leading cactus collections.
The garden incorporates native Hawaiian plants such as wiliwili, hau, coconut, and plumeria, reflecting the natural flora of the islands.
The gardens are located at 2253 Poipu Road and can be visited free of charge daily. Visitors navigate the grounds using self-guided routes throughout the property.
In the 1940s, the collection received international recognition and ranked alongside Huntington Gardens and the Royal Gardens of Monaco as one of the world's finest cactus collections. This status reflected how important the garden had become.
