Nikolaevsk, Russian Orthodox settlement in Kenai Peninsula Borough, United States.
Nikolaevsk is a small settlement on the west side of Kenai Peninsula at about 256 meters elevation. The village features wooden buildings with traditional Russian architecture that shapes its character.
The settlement began in 1968 when a group of Old Believers from Oregon established their community in this remote Alaskan location. These founders brought their faith and way of life to this valley.
The residents keep Russian customs alive through daily life and family traditions. Most people here speak Russian at home and follow practices passed down through generations.
North Fork Road connects the settlement to Sterling Highway, ensuring access to essential services in the area. Anchor Point to the west offers the nearest shopping and supplies when needed.
In 2023 the local faith community made a major change by joining the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. This step opened a new chapter in the community's journey.
