Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Administrative division in South Central Alaska, United States

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough spans 25,258 square miles of diverse terrain, including mountains, rivers, and farmland north of Anchorage in Alaska.

The region transformed after 1935 when the federal government established the Matanuska Colony project, bringing 203 families to develop agriculture in Alaska.

The Dena'ina and Ahtna peoples maintained their communities along the Susitna and Matanuska Rivers, establishing trade routes and seasonal settlements.

The borough operates multiple public facilities, including libraries, parks, and emergency services, serving a population that exceeded 107,000 residents in 2020.

The area contains one of Alaska's primary agricultural zones, producing crops during summer seasons that experience up to 20 hours of daylight.
