Mount Vancouver

Mount Vancouver rises to 4,812 meters with three distinct summits along a north-south ridge in the Saint Elias Mountain range between Canada and Alaska.

William Healey Dall named the mountain in 1874 to honor British explorer George Vancouver, who mapped the southeast Alaskan coast between 1792 and 1794.

The southern summit bears the name Good Neighbor Peak, marking the international boundary between Canada and the United States at this mountainous junction.

Climbers need specialized equipment and permits from both Kluane National Park and Glacier Bay National Park to attempt ascending any of the three summits.

The mountain's drainage feeds two major glacial systems: the Hubbard Glacier and Malaspina Glacier, which both flow toward the Gulf of Alaska.
