Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe

The building emerged during colonial times and went through several reconstructions to meet changing needs. A powerful earthquake in the mid-20th century caused major damage, particularly to the northern tower, prompting extensive repairs.

The name refers to the Virgin of Guadalupe, venerated as a spiritual protector across Mexico. Visitors can see today how this devotion shapes local life and how people gather here for religious observances and celebrations.

The building sits on Reforma Street near the central plaza and is easy to reach on foot. Visitors should note that regular hours apply and appropriate clothing is expected when services are taking place inside.
