Isla Espíritu Santo

Isla Espíritu Santo is an island in the Gulf of California with a jagged coastline and numerous beaches of white sand. The island features red rock outcrops, white limestone cliffs, and several small coves where the water is shallow and clear.

The island was home to Pericu peoples who lived here for several centuries, leaving behind tools and everyday objects. Archaeologists later conducted excavations that revealed clues about these early inhabitants.

This island is a place where visitors can watch wildlife in its natural habitat, with birds circling above the cliffs and fish swimming in the shallow waters. Local guides and tourists come here to experience nature and discover the diverse ecosystems firsthand.

The island is best reached by boat tours departing from La Paz, with local boats stopping at various landing sites. Bring water and sun protection, and wear sturdy shoes since the rocks and sand on trails can be rough underfoot.

The island is home to several animal species found nowhere else in the world and thriving only here. Seeing these rare creatures is an opportunity you cannot get anywhere else in the region.
