Los Angeles Country Club, Private golf course in Beverly Hills, United States.
The Los Angeles Country Club sits on Wilshire Boulevard and offers two golf courses with a total of 36 holes spread across hilly terrain with trees and water hazards. The fairways wind through valleys and over rises, while sand bunkers are positioned to require precision in each shot.
The club was founded in 1897 downtown and moved several times before occupying its current site in 1911. Over the following decades, the grounds developed into one of California's best-known golf courses and hosted tournaments and prominent players.
Members wear traditional golf attire with collared shirts and closed-toe shoes during rounds. A quiet atmosphere prevails on the grounds, and conversations are kept low to avoid disturbing players' concentration.
Access is restricted to members and their guests, and advance booking is typically required. The facility opens early in the morning and closes at sunset, with playing times varying by season.
Some parts of the grounds still contain active oil derricks from the first half of the 20th century. Players occasionally need to navigate their shots around these metal structures, which continue to operate.
