Occidental College is a private liberal arts institution in Eagle Rock, northeast Los Angeles, California. The campus covers roughly 120 acres (49 hectares) on a hilltop and includes classroom buildings, dormitories, research centers, and athletic facilities.
Presbyterian ministers founded the institution in 1887 during the early growth of Los Angeles. It became independent of religious affiliation in 1910 and grew into a recognized educational center in California.
