Cahuenga Boulevard, Major thoroughfare in Hollywood, Los Angeles, US

Cahuenga Boulevard is a major thoroughfare running from West Victory Boulevard in North Hollywood down to Sunset Boulevard while crossing the Santa Monica Mountains at Cahuenga Pass. The road passes through diverse neighborhoods and provides essential connections to entertainment venues and surrounding commercial areas.

The boulevard takes its name from Kawengna, a Tongva Native American village, and once formed part of El Camino Real during Spanish exploration in the 1700s. Over time it became a key route connecting Hollywood's expanding neighborhoods and surrounding areas.

The Hollywood Canteen at 1451 Cahuenga served as an entertainment venue during World War II where military personnel danced and met Hollywood celebrities.

The road connects directly to Universal Studios and provides access to the Universal City Metro station for public transit options throughout Los Angeles. Traffic can be heavy at peak times, so plan accordingly if you're driving or timing a visit to nearby attractions.

The Cahuenga Pass section sits at 745 feet (227 meters) above sea level and marks the lowest natural crossing through the Santa Monica Mountains. This geographical feature has made the route a preferred passage for centuries and continues to shape how traffic flows through the area.
