Gold Base is the international headquarters of the Church of Scientology in Riverside County, California. The property covers about five hundred acres with numerous buildings surrounded by tall fences and surveillance systems.
The Church of Scientology acquired the property in 1978 from a former resort. Since then, the site has been developed into a closed administrative compound.
Golden Era Productions, located within the facility, manufactures E-meters and creates all audio-visual materials for the Church of Scientology worldwide.
The compound sits along Gilman Springs Road, roughly eighty-five miles from Los Angeles. Access is not public and the entire area is monitored around the clock.
A mansion worth several million dollars stands on the property, kept ready for the founder. Fresh flowers are regularly replaced even though no one lives there.
