Palm Springs Walk of Stars, Celebrity celebration sidewalk in Downtown Palm Springs, California.
The Palm Springs Walk of Stars is a pedestrian pathway featuring over 460 golden stars embedded in the sidewalk along Palm Canyon Drive and adjacent streets. The stars are distributed throughout downtown, creating a series of landmarks that visitors can discover while walking.
The project started in 1992 with five initial honorees: Earle C. Strebe, William Powell, Ruby Keeler, Charles Farrell, and Ralph Bellamy. Since its beginning, the initiative has grown to recognize people from many different fields and backgrounds.
Each star honors people from entertainment, architecture, and civic life who shaped Palm Springs over the decades. The stars show how the city celebrates those who contributed to its development.
A mobile application with GPS can help you locate specific stars and learn biographical details about each honoree. Walking slowly through downtown and looking at the sidewalks as you go is the most enjoyable way to explore the route.
In 1999, five Medal of Honor recipients from Coachella Valley were honored during a Veterans Day celebration at this location. This military recognition marked a distinctive moment in the walkway's history.
